Detox juices and teas don't 'flush out toxins' — your liver already does
Detox program marketing promises to 'cleanse' the body of toxins with special juices, teas, or fasts. The problem is that the liver and kidneys are already a fully built, round-the-clock detoxification system, refined by millions of years of evolution. The liver neutralizes foreign and toxic substances by converting them into water-soluble compounds, and the kidneys filter them out through urine — this process never stops and doesn't need a special juice to 'switch it on.'
No clinically studied detox product has shown it can speed up or improve this natural function in people with healthy liver and kidneys. Worse, some aggressive detox protocols with extended fasting or extreme calorie restriction can put real strain on the body — from electrolyte imbalances to muscle loss — doing harm instead of good.
If you want to support your body after a stretch of unhealthy eating, it's simpler to just go back to a balanced diet with enough water, fiber, and protein — the liver will handle the rest on its own, no special juice required.
