Technique
The EZ-bar curl is a standing biceps curl with a cambered bar whose angled grips put the wrists in a slightly turned-in position. Many people find it more comfortable for the wrists and elbows than a straight barbell while still allowing heavy, two-handed loading of the biceps.
Steps
- Stand tall holding an EZ bar on the angled grips with palms facing forward and arms extended
- Pin your elbows to your sides and brace your core
- Curl the bar up toward your shoulders without moving the elbows forward
- Squeeze at the top, then lower the bar slowly until your arms are fully straight
Common mistakes
- Swinging the hips and leaning back to lift the weight
- Cutting the lowering phase short instead of reaching full extension
Variations
- EZ-bar preacher curl
- Wide-grip EZ-bar curl
