Technique

The cable cross-body triceps extension is a single-arm triceps exercise where you pull the cable from the opposite side across the body and straighten the elbow out to the side. The diagonal line of pull often feels comfortable on the elbows and keeps tension on the triceps throughout, making it a good finishing exercise.

Steps

  1. Set a cable pulley at about shoulder height, grab the handle with the far hand so the cable crosses in front of you
  2. Stand side-on with the working elbow bent and the hand near the opposite shoulder
  3. Straighten the elbow out to the side, keeping the upper arm still
  4. Return slowly to the bent position and finish the reps before switching arms
