Technique
The landmine lateral raise is a single-arm side raise done with one end of a barbell anchored in a landmine. The bar's arc keeps tension on the side delt through a long range of motion, and it is easy to load in small steps.
Steps
- Stand side-on to the landmine and hold the end of the bar in the far hand across the front of your thighs
- With a slight bend in the elbow, raise the bar out to the side in an arc up to shoulder height
- Lower slowly back across the body
- Finish all reps on one side, then switch
Common mistakes
- Twisting the torso to swing the bar up
- Shrugging the shoulder toward the ear
Variations
- Kneeling landmine lateral raise
- Cable lateral raise
