Technique
Toes-to-bar is a hanging core exercise where you raise straight legs until your feet touch the bar you are hanging from. It is one of the hardest abdominal exercises and also trains grip, lats and hip flexors.
Steps
- Hang from a pull-up bar with a shoulder-width overhand grip and arms straight
- Brace the abs and press the bar slightly down with straight arms to engage the lats
- Raise the legs as straight as possible and curl the pelvis until the toes touch the bar
- Lower under control without swinging
Common mistakes
- Using a big swing instead of abdominal strength
- Bending the knees a lot and stopping short of the bar
Variations
- Knees-to-elbows
- Hanging leg raise
