Technique
The resistance band leg curl trains the hamstrings at home: lying face down with a band looped around your ankles and anchored in front of you, you curl your heels toward your glutes. Band tension is highest at the top of the curl, where the hamstrings are shortest, so slow controlled reps work better than heavy ones.
Steps
- Anchor a band low to a sturdy object and lie face down with the loop around one or both ankles, far enough away that it is taut
- Rest your head on your hands and press your hips into the floor
- Curl your heels toward your glutes as far as you can without lifting the hips
- Hold for a second at the top, then straighten the legs slowly against the band
Common mistakes
- Lifting the hips off the floor to finish the curl
- Letting the band snap the legs back down
Variations
- Standing single-leg band curl
- Seated band leg curl
