Technique
Start in a wide push-up position. Lower your chest toward one hand while straightening the opposite arm out to the side, letting it slide along the floor. Press back up through the bent arm, then alternate sides. Shifts most of the load onto one arm at a time, bridging the gap toward a full one-arm push-up.
Steps
- Set your hands wide with your body in a straight line from head to heels
- Brace your core and lower your chest toward one hand
- Bend the working elbow while straightening the opposite arm out to the side
- Press through the bent arm to return to the wide push-up position
- Repeat toward the opposite hand
Common mistakes
- Letting the hips sag or rotate toward the working side
- Bending the sliding arm instead of keeping it straight
- Flaring the working elbow directly out to the side
- Shifting only the shoulders instead of moving the chest toward the working hand
Variations
- Kneeling archer push-up
- Incline archer push-up
- Ring archer push-up
- Slider archer push-up
