Technique
Step inside a resistance band with both feet or place it over your shoulders. Perform a standard squat with feet shoulder-width apart. The band adds accommodating resistance, increasing difficulty at the top. Keep your chest tall and knees tracking over your toes throughout.
Steps
- Stand on the center of the band with your feet shoulder-width apart
- Secure the band over your shoulders or hold it at shoulder height
- Brace your core and keep your chest tall
- Bend your hips and knees to lower into a squat
- Drive through your feet to stand against the band resistance
Common mistakes
- Allowing the knees to collapse inward against the band tension
- Rounding the torso while lowering
- Standing unevenly on the band and creating unequal resistance
- Letting the heels lift at the bottom
Variations
- Resistance band front squat
- Handled resistance band squat
- Mini-band squat with the band above the knees
- Wide-stance resistance band squat
